Our Lady of Fatima Dominican Convent School was founded for the glory of God and this must remain the cornerstone of all our academic, cultural and sporting endeavours. Religious Education therefore, holds a prime position among our teaching subjects throughout the school and every girl is expected to attend these classes.
The aim of our religious education programme is to help our learners discern, respond to, and be transformed by the presence of God in their lives and to work for transformation of the world in the light of this perception of our ever-present God.
If you are out and about and anywhere near Books & Books, Kensington Square, ‘pop in’ and have a look at Our Book Club’s book reviews which have been prominently displayed near the entrance to the shop. It was wonderful to read reviews from our Grade 9, 10 and 11 pupils. In fact, on reading some of the reviews, you may be encouraged to purchase the book reviewed. Fatima has teamed up with Books & Books, who provide the publishers’ proofs for the girls to read. The girls then write reviews which go a long way in assisting with the recommendation of the books read and with whether the shop should buy the novels reviewed. Mrs D. James

During Lent each year, our girls are encouraged to support the St Vincent de Paul Society by collecting money for their Bergville Winter-Warmth campaign. Projessor Bojé, who is a member of the Fatima Parish and the father of two past pupils of our school, was invited to address the High School at the beginning of Lent. He highlighted the plight of this poverty-stricken community, and their ongoing need for food and clothing. We were therefore delighted to be able to donate R3 000 towards this extremely worthwhile project. Thank you to all the girls who gave so generously!
