Geography

What questions do you ask when you look at this picture?

(Environmental and Geographical Sciences)

A WAY OF THINKING!
A WAY OF LIFE

This is one of the critical skills and passion Geographers show. If this picture stimulated your thinking then geography is the course for you!

What is Geography about?

The subject Geography has changed in very exciting ways since your parents did it! We no longer learn lists of countries and their capitals, or major exports. Geography is the study of the earth’s landscapes, people, places and environments and their constant interaction. It is an extremely relevant and exciting subject that focuses on real issues such as global warming, resources use, development, refugees, water scarcity... These issues will affect you far more than previous generations. Geography will equip you with an understanding of cause and effect and empower you to make a difference.

It is the study of people and places and their interaction in the environment.

Should I do Geography?

Yes! … if you are:

  • Inquisitive
  • Environmentally aware
  • Highly motivated
  • Creative
  • Interested in world issues
  • A logical thinker (can be developed)
If you don’t have these attributes but would like to develop them – I would love to have you!

  • Able to work in groups and as an individual
  • Enjoy fieldtrips
  • Not a moaner
We value parents input with regards to access to physical sites, guest speakers and joining us on excursionsand hikes!

What will I learn?

That depends on you!

Geography will provide you with the opportunity to understand and develop a wide range of skills and knowledge.
